The Polyframe Group has announced that it has acquired Advanced Aluminium in Norfolk.

Advanced Aluminium was previously part of The Evander Group and has now been acquired by Polyframe Trade.

Advanced Aluminium was previously part of The Evander Group and has now been acquired by Polyframe Trade.

The Polyframe Group is a substantial fabricator and supplying fabricated PVCu products. They presently operate out of six factories all over the UK.

Advanced Aluminium started in 1994 and are well established as one of the major aluminium trade fabricators in the UK supplying products from the SAPA and Smarts Systems.

It was only a matter of time for Polyframe to acquire an aluminium fabricator.

The acquisition of Advanced Aluminium is a logical step for Polyframe. For several years now their local regional centres were offering aluminium products to their local customers but these were actually bought in from various trade suppliers.

We know that Polyframe have for a long time wanted to enter the aluminium market on a more independent basis, without having to rely on third party trade suppliers. We also know that they had previous attempts at manufacturing aluminium themselves but these were not successful.

In our view it was almost inevitable that Polyframe would acquire an established fabricator.  By buying an established fabricator they’ve created a far easier transition into the aluminium market than trying to set up an aluminium fabrication facility themselves.

The alternative would be to change the mindset of a PVCu company and its workforce to manufacture aluminium.  Arguably one of the hardest thing for any business to do.

The mass produced nature of PVCu windows is completely different to fabricating any kind of aluminium product and Polyframe would have had many obstacles to overcome to become the same successful aluminium fabricator as they are a PVCu one.

8 different systems now available in PVCu and aluminium.

Advanced Aluminium were established trade fabricators of Smarts and SAPA systems.

The new business will be called Polyframe Aluminium Ltd and will operate from the existing Advanced Aluminium premises in Norfolk.

Peter Dyson, Polyframe’s Group Sales Director commented

Aluminium is in vogue – for commercial, public sector, domestic refurb and new build – and we want to bolt on the benefits to Polyframe’s unique service offer. It’s a new way in doing things and a strategic step in creating our future growth.

We would disagree with this comment.  Not only has aluminium been the preferred choice commercially for several decades already, but also that Advanced Aluminium have not been playing at aluminium fabrication. They were already a long established and serious aluminium fabricator along with many other sizeable aluminium companies operating since the early 1990’s specifically set up to fabricate aluminium to the trade. This was long before aluminium was “in vogue”.

Will Polyframe undergo product rationalisation?

It is not yet clear whether Polyframe will rationalise the existing large product range of Advanced Aluminium, whether they will let them run as they have been run successfully for many years.  Advanced were well known for their range of commercial as well as residential systems, fabricating curtain walling and commercial windows and doors as well as domestic products.

We congratulate Polyframe on their acquisition of Advanced Aluminium and welcome this is a serious investment into the aluminium market
